Abstract

MESO- AND MACROSTRUCTURAL OBSERVATIONS FROM THE NORTHERN PART OF THE ZŁOTY STOK – SKRZYNKA TECTONIC ZONESummaryThe present article is a continuation of the study: “On the Origin and Evolution of the Northern Part of the Złoty Stok – Skrzynka Tectonic Zone” (Kwartalnik Geologiczny, 19, nr 4, 1975). Six sets of linear structures have been distinguished in the Złoty Stok metamorphic complex. The main deformation is represented by asymmetric mesofolds, their trends being N–S to NNE–SSW (Fg). The axes of these mesofolds were subjected to torsion in the same phase of deformation, thus leading to lineation of the wrinkle type (Lz). The deformations which gave rise to the formation of the main tectonic structures were of a rigid character. These deformations were accompanied by cataclasis and mylonitisation. Thus mylonitisation was contemporaneous with folding processes, contrary to previous opinions that it took place later than the main folding processes. Some data indicate that the fold structure of the Złoty Stok – Skrzynka tectonic zone was formed just before the Upper Carboniferous intrusion of the Kłodzko-Złoty Stok granitoids.
