Abstract
SEDIMENTATION AND FACIES OF A MARINE ZONE IN THE SERIES OF WESTPHALIAN DEPOSITS IN THELUBLINCOALBASINSummaryThe authors present a detailed description of the sedimentation and facies of a marine zone described by L. Musiał and M. Tabor as marine zone with Dunbarella papyracea, at the boundary between Westphalian A and B. The materials investigated here were obtained from 29 boreholes localized in theLublinCoalBasin.Three sedimentation cycles have been distinguished within the marine zone described here. Special attention was paid to the second sedimentation cycle, which contains dolomitic-calcareous intercalations with rich macrofauna. Palaeogeographical relationships with the European area of the Soviet Union and withWestern Europeare indicated by this fauna, especially by corals and brachiopods.Downloads
