Analiza stratygraficzna płaszczowiny magurskiej w przekroju doliny Smerekówka Wielka w Beskidzie Żywieckim
Abstract
STRATIGRAPHIC ANALYSIS OF THE MAGURA NAPPE FROM THE SMEREKÓWKA WIELKA VALLEY SECTION, THE BESKID ŻYWIECKI MOUNTAIN RANGE The paper presents lithological-stratigraphic description of deposits of the Bystrzycka Zone of the Magura unit which are cropping out in the Smerekówka Wielka stream valley south-east of Żywiec. The stratigraphy of the flysch deposits was reconstructed on the basis of succession of layers, microfaunal records and lithostratigraphic correlation. The studies showed the presence of bipartite member of the Inoceramus beds, dated at the Maestrichtian – Paleocene on the basis of microfaunal records (Fig. 3). A wide Smerek6w anticline with complex structure and secondarily folded core part and northern limb (Fig. 1) is distinguished. This structure is completely divided into two parts, northern and southern, by a decollement surface. The anticline is trending NE-SW, similarly as structures from the adjoining areas (Fig. 2). The area studied appears to be tectonically uplifted in relation to the Przegibek anticline (see K. Żytko, 1962), representing a part of the Magura unit (Bystrzycka Zone) situated further to the west. This tectonic elevation of the Magura nappe (Bystrzycka Zone) begins in the studied area, extending eastwards on the neighbouring areas (Fig. 4).Downloads
