Abstract

Przedstawiono uwagi uzasadniające wprowadzenie palinostratygrafii jako odrębnej kategorii jednostek stratygraficznych. Proponuje się cztery hierarchicznie ustawione jednostki: sukcesja pyłkowa, okres pyłkowy, poziom zespołu pyłkowego, podpoziom zespołu pyłkowego.REMARKS ON PALYNOSTRATIGRAPHY OF THE QUATERNARY The questions of palynostratigraphy of the Quaternary are discussed with reference to Zasady polskiej klasyfikacjii … dla czwartorzędu (in the press). The terms used are explained and discussed and attempt is made to give exhaustive justification of the introduced palynostratigraphic units. The introduced units are follows (from the highest la lowest rank): pollen succession, pollen stage, pollen assemblage zone, pollen assemblage subzone. The pollen assemblage zone, corresponding to the English pollen assemble zone (R.O. West, 1970), accepted as is here the basic palynostratigraphic unit. Such zones may be further subdivided into subzones. They represent connected units (lower boundary of one zone is at the same time upper boundary of the older one) and form pollen stages and successions. Four different interglacial pollen successions are known from the Glacial Pleistocene of Poland. The successions characterize interglacials of different age: The Eemian pollen succession. the best known and characterized by very high number of the available pollen spectra (K. Pitch, 1932; A. Środoń, M. Gołabowa, 1956; Z. Borówko-Dłużakowa, 1960; J. Niklewski, 1968; K. Mamakowa, in the press: and many others), the Masovian pollen successions also well known ( J. Dyakowska, 1952; M. Sobolewska, 1956; Z. Janczyk-Kopikowa, 1981; D. Kosmowska-Suffczyńska, K. Szczepanek, 1981; and many other), the Ferdynandów pollen successions, known in Poland from the seventies and evidenced by flora Ferdynandów (Z. Janczyk-Kopikowa, 1975), Łuków (M. Sobolewska, 1969), Podgórze (I. Jurkiewiczowa, and others, 1913) and several other still underscribed localities, at the Zbójno pollen succession (L. Lindner, E. Brykczyńska, 1980; L. Lindner, 1984). The interglacial pollen successions may be used to propose, define and identify chronostratigraphic units.
