Role of malacologic investigations for stratigraphy of the Quaternary of southeastern Poland

Abstract

107 faunistic sites with land-and fresh-water molluscs were recorded in southeastern Poland. Shells of some species can be used directly for stratigraphy of Quaternary sediments. There is much greater number of species used to the determination of the palaeoecologic, palaeogeomorphologic and palaeoclimatic terms and the age of the sediments, in which the shells were found.
