Zagadnienie recesji zachodniego skrzydła lobu Wisły na Pojezierzu Kociewskim

Józef Sylwestrzak

Abstract

Przedstawiono uwarunkowania geologiczno-geograficzne rozwoju lobu Wisły, zasięg zachodniego skrzydła lobu, rozwój form akumulacji subglacjalnej i marginalnej lądolodu oraz charakterystykę form odwodnienia subglacjalnego i proglacjalnego na Pojezierzu Kociewskim, zwanym również Pojezierzem Starogardzkim. Metodą termoluminescencji określono także wiek bezwzględny wybranych utworów, form czołowomorenowych i fluwioglacjalnych głównej fazy pomorskiej zlodowacenia północnopolskiego oraz na jej bliższym i dalszym zapleczu. Wydzielono kilka stref morfogenetycznych o odmiennym charakterze deglacjacji i stosunkach hipsometrycznych. Zwraca uwagę większy, niż na ogół przyjmowano, udział deglacjacji arealnej oraz dominująca rola odpływu subglacjalnego w kształtowaniu form odwodnienia.

THE QUESTION OF RECESSION OF WESTERN PART OF THE VISTULA LOBE IN THE KOCIEWSKIE LAKE DISTRICT

Geological-structural factors determining development of the Vistula lobe are discussed along with the questions of extent of western part of that lobe, development of forms of subglacial and marginal accumulation of the icesheet and characteristics of forms related to subglacial and proglacial drainage in area of the Kociewskie lake district (Starogard lake district). In the studied area, the present-day relief appears closely related to configuration of the Quaternary bedrock and relief from times of the Eemian Interglacial. Absolute heights of the present-day relief reflect lobe patterns of morphogenetic zones and major forms of the older relief. Relative heights also form a specific zonal “pattern”, closely related to that of the absolute heights and, on the other hand, to morphogenetic zones.

A large part of the studied area has been subjected to areal deglaciation, zonal extent of which appears closely dependent on hypsometry. Ground moraine upland forms some orographic steps, the course of which delineates extent of individual deglaciation zones. Central morphogenetic zone is characterized by presence of an old furrow, partly infilled and masked by fluvioglacial sediments related to phase of transgression of the Vistula lobe, and the overlaying ground moraine and sediments building the Starogard esker. Morphology, geological structure and spatial arrangement of forms of subglacial and marginal icesheet accumulation and their relation to those of subglacial and proglacial drainage indicate that recession of western part of the Vistula lobe was in the studied area repeatedly broken by comebacks of ice margin with various, locally differing directions of ice movements.

The age of frontal moraine deposits of the Pomeranian phase in the vicinities of Liniewo, Nowa Karczma and St. Polaszki was established with the use of thermoluminescence method at 16,000,

15,000 and 16,850 y B.P., respectively, and of glacitectonically disturbed fluvioglacial deposits of the Tczew moraines at 15,000–15,600 y B.P. Fluvioglacial deposits which built nuclei of drumlins at Nowa Cerkiew (west of Gniew) are dated at 15,900–15,000 y B.P.
