Abstract
Na luźnym fragmencie ławicy piaskowca warstw ropienickich (kreda górna) w Szczawie znaleziono odcisk amonita Saghalinites wrighti Birkelund znanego dotychczas z mastrychtu Grenlandii.FINDING OF AMMONITE SAGHALINITES WRIGHTI BIRKELUND IN CRETACEOUS OF MAGURA UNIT (WEST CARPATHIANS)A cast of ammonite shell was found in locality Szczawa (Fig. 1) on a sole of sandstone bed in Upper Cretaceous flysch of the Magura Unit. The mode of cast occurrence indicates that the shell was resting at the sea floor before its burial by a turbidity current. The ammonite (Tabl. I,· Fig. 2) belongs to the species Saghalinites wrighti Birkelund, described from the Maastrichtian of Greenland (T. Birkelund, 1965) and FRG (T. Birkelund, 1982).Downloads
