Zastosowanie nowych stałych rozpadu promieniotwórczego do przeliczania wieku izotopowego K-Ar
Abstract
Zgodnie z zaleceniami Podkomisji do Spraw Geochronologii IUGS przy oznaczaniu wieku metodą K-Ar należy stosować następujące stale: lK = 0,581 . l0-l0/a, lb = 4,962· l0-10/a i l0 = 5,543' l0-l0/a. ON THE USE OF NEW DECAY CONSTANTS TO RE-COMPUTE K-Ar DATINGSIn 1976 the IUGS Subcommission for Geochronology recommended use of the same radiogenic decay constants in all laboratories. This resulted in a number of changes in the stratigraphic time table (some of them are shown in Tab. 1). In the case of the K-Ar method the subcommission recommended to replace the hitherto applied constants with the new ones (tab. 2). Using the new values, in 1979 G.B. Dalrymple has proposed critical tables to re-compute “old” K-Ar ages to “new” ones. These tables cannot be, however used in the Mineralogical and Geochronological Laboratory of Geological Institute because of differences in the accepted constants. Therefore an attempt was made to re-compute ages from “old” Polish to “new” IUGS constants basing on such the formulae:40Ar/40K =L × K0(el0T1 – 1)/1.167 × 10-4T = 1.804 × 109 ln (9.541 × 40Ar/40K + 1)where: T1 and T - mean “old” and “new” ages, respectively; 40Ar/40K - ratio counted using the recommended constants; L – “old” le + l´e; Ko – “old” ratio 4°K/Kto ; lo = “old” total decay constant for potassium. The results of re-computing for the age interval 100 - 3000 my are given in Table 3. This table presents “old” and “new” age values (T1 and T, respectively), multiplying factor F (for more precise countings), as well as estimated value DT, which is roughly estimated difference between “new” and “old” age values.Applying actual constants some earlier K - Ar dating results in Poland should be presented in changed value. According to Tab. 3.- isochrone age for the Strzegom massif (T. Depciuch, 1971) changes from 266 my to 271 my,- ages region for the Kudowa massif (311 - 365 my, J. Lis, H. Sylwestrzak, 1978) - to 317-372 my, and- isochrone age for the Karkonosze granite (299 my; T. Depciuch, 1. Lis, 1971) - to 305 my.Downloads
