Abstract
PETROGRAPHY OF DEVONIAN QUARTZITIC SANDSTONES OF THE ŚWIĘTY KRZYŻ MOUNTAINSThis paper deals with the petrographic features of the Devonian quartzitic sandstones of the Święty Krzyż Mountains.Material for this investigation has been collected from 4 regions: from hill Bukowa Góra near Łączna -Zagórz, at Szydłówek and at Cedzyna, and from hill Skała near Bieliny. On hill Bukowa Góra which is a unit of the Kraków Ridge two kinds of sandstones occur: a spirifer fine-grained one of cherry-red colour, and a quader sandstone, light grey in colour, strongly fractured. PetrographicalIy these sandstones show a regeneration texture. Their components are: fairly well rounded quartz, fragments of siliceous rocks, and in small quantities - muscovite and tourmaline.Downloads
