Stan badań nad rybami trzeciorzędowymi w Polsce
Abstract
STATUS OF RESEARCH ON TERTIARY FISHES IN POLANDInvestigations of the Teleostei fauna from the Carpathian Flysch have been initiated by J. J. HeckeI (1850). Among the fossils which J. J. Heckel describes as derived from Polish territory, there was one specimen of Amphisile heinrichi H e c k. This author considered this form to be characteristic for the menilitic shales, and created the expression "Amphisileschiefer". It is probable that this designation led to the erroneous notion that Amphisile heinrichi H e c k occurs frequently in the Carpathians. As a matter of fact, the locality mentioned by J. J. HeckeI is unique in Poland.Downloads
