Abstract
GREENSTONE SERIES IN THE ANDELSKA HORA BEDS (EASTERN SUDETENIn 1954, geological investigations were undertaken on the are a of the green-stone series which in the vicinity of Pokrzywna (Wildgrund) appears in the Andelska Hora beds. Heretofore this greenstone series had been looked upon as a Middle Devonian deposit, elevated, due to folding, from the substratum in the shape of a "Klippenbelt" - identically as the greenstone and diabase rocks of the Benešov-Šternberk ridge.Field observations made in test ditches, dug down to the top and bottom layers of the greenstone series on the alleged tectonic contacts, indicate the sedimentary character of the contact between the greenstone and the phyllites of the Andelska Hora beds. Similar were the results of observations obtained from a bore-hole sunk at Pokrzywna. Thus the greenstone series is an stratigraphical intercalation within the Andelska Hora beds; therefore it should not be considered identical with the greenstone beds of, the Benešov-Šternberk ridge, neither as to it tectonics nor its stratigraphy.Downloads
