Abstract

SEPARATION OF THE ZECHSTEIN FROM THE BUNTER IN THE AREA OF FORESUDETIC MONOCLINE

Recent drillings carried out on the area of the Fore-Sudetic monocline made possible the separation of the Zechstein from the Lower Bunter Sandstone; on account of the absence of fauna, the author based this separation upon a comparison of the lithological development of the formations of this· monocline with the development of the Upper Zechstein and the Lower Bunter Sandstone as observed in the area of the Northern Sudeten and the Thuringia basin.
