Bentonity w osadach staropaleozoicznych Gór Świętokrzyskich
Abstract
BENTONITES IN OLD P ALAEOZOIC SEDIMENTS FROM THE ŚWIĘTY KRZYŻ MOUNTAINSGeological investigations of the Ordovician and Silurian in the Święty Krzyż Mountains disclosed the occurrence of thin bentonite intercalations. In the Ordovician sediments at Mójcza, three series may be distinguished. Directly upon the Cambrian are deposited sediments of Llandeilo age - Orthis sandstones, platy limestones with Asaphus; and marly limestones too, with Echinosphaerites, belonging to the Caradocian (J. Samsonowicz, 1952; H. Tomczyk,1957). The bentonite intercalations lie on·top of the complex of grey limestones with Asaphus, and about 3 m. below the limestones with Echinosphaerites, thus characterizing the boundary between the Llandeilo and the Caradocian (Fig. 5).Downloads
