Wstępny zarys stratygrafii utworów jurajskich w południowo-zachodniej części Niżu polskiego
Abstract
RELIMINARY DESCRIPTION OF STRATIGRAPHY OF JURASSIC SEDIMENTS IN SOUTHWESTERN PART OF POLISH LOWLANDThe results of new geological investigations have, to a considerable extent, thrown light upon the geological structure of the area between Kalisz and Gorzów Wielkopolski. In various aspects these results. were unexpected and astonishing; this pertains mainly to the stratigraphy and the palaeogeography of the Jurassic in the Polish Lowland. The Kainozoic mantle comprises: marine Oligocene sediments (appearing in patches only) as well as continental deposits of an arenaceous Miocene, containing brown coal and, finally, Poznań Pliocene clays. The thickness of the Tertiary sediments varies between 40 and 160 meters. The latter sediments are covered by a homogenous mantle of Quaternary deposits, of a thickness reaching 144 m. The Kainozoic mantle rests unconformable upon its Mesozoic substratum.Downloads
