Abstract

ATTEMPT AT GENETIC CLASSIFICATION OF DUNE FORMS IN THE WARSAW REGION·In the vicnity of Warsaw, dunes are encountered on various geomorphological surfaces on the highest level of the flood terrace, on the Kampinos terrace ascribed to the Baltic gIaciation, on the ice-dammned lake terrace from the period of recession of the Middle Polish glaciation and, finally, on deposits of the Middle Polish glaciation.Among these dunes there may be distinguished the following types parabolic V-shapes dunes, parabolic U-shaped dunes, parabolic crescent-shaped dunes and, finally, linear dunes, the so-called seifs, extending almost in the E-W direction and showing a gentle southern slope.
