Nowe horyzonty tufowe w starszym paleogenie Karpat fliszowych
Abstract
NEW TUFF HORIZONS IN OLDER PALAEOGENE OF FLYSCH CARPATHIANSIn 1959, the authors discovered two new tuff horizons in the PaIaeogene of the Silesian nappe in the Middle·Carpathians. The o l d e r h o r i z o n (Fig. 1); was found in the southern limb of the Gorlice fold. Here the tuffs occur in the middle part of a compIex of variegated shales (Fig: 2) of about 50 meters thickness; this complex separates the upper Istebna sandstones (Danian - Palaeocene) from the Ciężkowice sandstones (Lower Eocene). The age of these tuffs may be defined as highermost Palaeocene, or the boundary of PaIaeocene and Lower Eocene.Downloads
