Abstract

ALGAE (DASYCLADACEAE) FROM OREBEARING DOLOMITES IN THE VICINITY OF CHRZANÓW

Specimens collected from outcrops of weathered dolomite et Kąty have been used for palaeontological identification. Individual specimens are built of the same material as their matrix i. e. of dolomite of the following composition: CaO - 30.51%, MgO - 21.03 per cent. In some horizons algae occur as rockbuilders. Their aggregations contain broken cylinders up to 3 mm thick. The average diameter of these cylinders is about 1.5 mm. Hence, as has already bean stressed by M. Raciborski (1892), these forms are smaller than the Triassic Alpine algae. The cylinders are covered by tubercles in a whorl manner. They represent the inner casts of algal tubes from the Dasycladaceae family.

Species identified from the discussed area are quoted in the Polish text.
