Abstract
SECONDARY CONCENTRATION OF CALCIUM CARBONATE IN ARGILLACEOUS SEDIMENTSArgillaceous rocks of various age contain in their petrographical composition free calcium carbonate, in quantities depending on type and origin of the rocks. In the subsurface strata, of these rocks CaCO3 is leached out and carried off into the surrounding rock material, or secondarily deposited in its mother rock. We therefore distinguish in argillaceous rocks three zones of calcium carbonate content, ie.: 1) a zone of decalcification:, 2) a zone of secondary concentration, 3) a zone of primary content of calcite. The thickness of these three zones varies in different sediments (Figs. 2, 5, 6, 7).Downloads
