Pozycja stratygraficzna osadów karbońskich w wierceniu "Borek Szlachecki"
Abstract
STRATIGRAPHICAL POSITION OF CARBONIFEROUS SEDIMENTS IN BORE-HOLE ''BOREK SZLACHECKI"The author examined samples of rocks and coal seams from Carboniferous sediments, obtained from the deep bore-hole "Borek Szlachecki" (Upper Silesian Basin), sunk in the southeastern part of the Upper Silsian Basin, west of Skawina. The microspore analysis disclosed that in this region the Upper Visean sediments are concordantly overlain by sediments of the lowermost Namurian A on which, discordantly, are laid down sediments of the Upper Westphalian B.On the basis of stratigraphical data, the author takes for granted a great break in the sedimentation of the southeastern part of the Basin, as has been previously suggested by some students. This break which in the peripheral parts of this part of the Basin embraces a very considerable period of time (from the Lower Namurian to the Westphalian B), is differentiated as to both duration and territory, and narrows in both northern and western direction. Due to this, the younger Westphalian sediments rest transgressively on older strata of the Lower Namurian. Moreover, the author claims in his paper that in the eastern part of the Upper Silesian Basin the activity of the Sudeten phase is not in evidence at all; the great break in sedimentation in the southeastern part the author rather links with the activity of the Erzgebirge phase sensu lato.Downloads
