Abstract

NEW LOCALITY OF PALADIN MUCRONATUS M c C O Y IN THE MARGINAL BEDS (NAMURIAN A)

In bore-hole Czeladź 16, situated on the concession of coal pit mine Czeladź (Dąbrowa region of Upper Silesian Coal Basin), there was discovered, in the marine horizon Barbara (V)of the Marginal beds (Namurian A): Paladin mucronatus McCoy

Hitherto, this form has been considered one of the few index fossils for the marine horizon Franciszka (X). In view of recent investigations and on the basis of existing material it has now been proved that Palladin mucronatus M c C o y appears in various horizons of the discussed beds. This symptom is connected with individual regions of the Coal Basin. Thus, this species can not any more be considered the index fossil for horizon Franciszka (X).
