Abstract

ON THE FEASIBILITY OF UTILIZING THE SANDSTONES PROM THE GAIZE BEDS IN THE REGION OF WIELICZKAThe sandstones of gaize beds (Aptian) occurring in the region of Wieliczka (Carpathian border) have formerly been the object of an intensive exploitation. Proof are extensive quarries at Koźmice Wielkie, Janowice, Rzeszptary, Biskupiec and Grajów (Fig. 1), the majority of which are abandoned today, while an insignificance exploitation is being done for local use only.
