Abstract
HORIZON OF DETRITAL LIMESTONES FROM BIRCZA, AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE FOR STRATIGRAPHY OF UPPER CRETACEOUS AND PALAEOCENE IN SKOLE NAPPEThe author describes the occurrence of detrital limestone in the Skole nappe (northern Inoceramian region). These limestones occur in the western part of the Wara-Chwaniów anticline in the upper part of the Inoceramian beds, and in the eastern part of this anticline within the variegated shales. In the neighboring of Bircza the limestones also occur within the range of the variegated shales; however here they are separated into these two horizons (fig. 2c) by a member of Babice clays with exotics. In the northern zone of the Skole region limestones occur in the Inoceramian beds; among the latter and on top of the limestone, a packet of argillaceous partially marly Variegated shales is developed (fig. 2d).Downloads
