Kilka uwag o oligocenie w Polsce zachodniej
Abstract
SOME REMARKS ON THE OLIGOCENE OF WESTERN POLANDLocalities with an Oligocene fauna discovered in bore holes Drawno geo 1, Choszczno IG 1, Gorzów IG 1 as well as outcrops and drillings in the Szczecin region indicate the age of the clays and, partly too, the sands derived from-these bore holes to be Middle Oligocene, RupeIian. Due to its faunal similarity, the area of Western Poland may be linked by way Szczecin with the Rupelian marine basin of Western Europe.More difficult is the determination of the precise age of the Oligocene sands and silts penetrated in bore-hole Wschowa geo 6. E. Woźny considers them to belong to the Lower Oligocene, whereas - on the basis of investigations of their micro-fauna - H. Wolańska is inclined to assign them to the Middle and even, to the upper Oligocene.Omitting more exact age conjectures as regards the sediments met with at Wschowa, the present author considers them to be the farest southern locality of Oligocene sediments in Western Poland.Downloads
