Abstract

BENTONITE IN EIFELIAN DOLOMITES AT JURKOWICE NEAR KLIMONTÓWn the quarry of Eifelian dolomites at Jurkowice, a 20 cm. thick bed of bentonite was discovered. In the bottom and top of this bank thin-laminated dolomites appeal. The bentonite is a compact rock of white colour, with a scale structure containing disorderly placed streaks and nests of yellow colour (Figs. 1, 2). This occurrence is the first bentonite deposit observed in the Eifelian of the Święty Krzyż Mountains as well as the first in Young-Palaeozoic sediments.
