Utwory czwartorzędowe w okolicach Rakowa i Łagowa
Abstract
THE QUATERNARY DEPOSITS OF THE REGION OF RAKÓW AND ŁAGÓWThe author discusses the stratigraphy of Quaternary deposits of the central part of the Święty Krzyż Mountains (in the region of Raków and Łagów, fig. 1), distinguishing the Preglacial, the Pleistocene and the Holocene (Plates I and II). This subdivision is based on morphological data, on chronology and on the origin of valleys, terraces and residual block fields. In the Preglacial, the author distinguishes two sub-periods: the older in which the Carpathian rivers widely flooded the Staszów - Połaniec depression, laying down deposits in the shape of quartz gravels derived from Carpathian rocks, - and the younger sub-period in which the rivers were incised and formed deep valleys. Evidence of the climatic oscillations of this sub-period are fossil rocky terraces appearing south of Łagów.Downloads
