Abstract
β-ALUMOHYDROCALCITE FROM NOWA RUDAThis paper deals with a needle-shaped mineral occurring at Nowa Ruda (Lower Silesia) mainly in fissures and cracks of Carboniferous argillaceous clays and bauxites assigned to the Westphalian. This mineral appears principally in voids, in the shape of tiny globular moss-like deposits on accumulations of crystalline calcite, and of white coatings on surfaces of bauxite fissures. Moreover, this mineral appears hi the shape·of vein-lets of 1-2 mm. width in cracks dissecting the dark-grey argillaceous shales. The diameter of the globular forms rarely exceeds 3 mm. They consist of elongated tiny needles of up to 1 mm. length and very thin (4 μ) diameter, radially-concentrically arranged around a microscopical centre such as .calcite grains, concentrations of an argillaceous substance, or the like.Downloads
