Abstract
PRELIMINARY RESULTS OFCOMPARATIVE EXAMINATIONS MADE IN 1959 IN THE FLYSCH OF THE REGION OF VIENNAThe Flysch of the Vienna region has been divided by Austrian geologists into three main tectonic units. From south to north they are: a) the, L a a b e u n i t at the front part of which the, "Hauptkllippenzone" appears; b) the K a h l e n b e r g u n I t (Wienerwald), and c) the G r e i f e n s t e i n u n i t. Beyond the latter unit, north of the Danube, a zone of non-flysch structure appears the, Waschberg zone.During our sojourn in Austria, we were given the opportunity of studying the gelogical sections of the units mentioned. We are deeply indebted and wish to express here our gratitude to the Austrian geologists, especially to Eng. F. Brix and lecturer Dr. W. Medwenitsch, for the warm welcome accorded us, for their assistance' and guidance during excursions, and for our numerous scientific discussions.Downloads
