Obolus apollinis E i c h w a l d z otworu wiertniczego w Podborowisku
Abstract
OBOLUS APOLLINIS EICHW. FROM BORE HOLE PODBOROWISKOThe paper deals with the description of Obolus apollinis E i c h w a I d, a Lower Ordovician brachiopod, which on account of its stratigraphical significance represents a very important form. So far, this species was only recorded from the area of the UofSSR (vicinities of Leningrad) and from the Estonian area.Sandstones containing Obolus fauna were for the first time encountered in Poland in bore hole Podborowisko I, Białystok region. This form is fairly abundant and mainly represented by separately occurring ventral and dorsal tests of various dimensions and various state of preservation. The results of investigations show that the specimens found in Poland should be regarded as those belonging to the species Obolus apollinis E i c h w a I d. Features distinguishing the Polish form from the Estonian one are insignificant and not of systematical importance.Downloads
