Abstract
OUTLINE OF PALAEOZOIC AND MESOZOIC TECTONICS OF THE POLISH LOWLANDCaledonia cover (C a m b r i a n - S i l u r i a n) in the area of the East European Platform in Poland. In the internal zone of platform the Lower Palaeozoic deposits fill up depressions of syneclise type.At the time of the Cambrian-Silurian sedimentation there existed continuous movements which lowered the marginal zone of platform on a much larger scale than the internal one. After that the young Caledonian synorogeny of the Ardennian phase took place. Large and flat syncline-like structural forms, which originated in consequence of this activity, are characteristic of axial directions approximate to that of the parallel, and disclosing a slight WSW-ENE deviation. In the marginal zone of the Lublin synclinorium, seismic works show the excellence of a lower and more strongly folded tectonic stage than the Variscian stage.Downloads
