REMARKS ON THE POSSIBILITIES OF CONDUCTING SEDIMENTOLOGICAL RESEARCHES ON DRILL-CORE MATERIAL, EXEMPLIFIED BY THE CARBONIFEROUS DEPOSITS FROM OSTRZESZÓWSummaryAn attempt has been made to elucidate sedimentary phenomena observed in drill-core material taken from clastic deposits, and types of beddings, erosional cuts, hieroglyphs and wrinkles are discussed. All kinds of cuts and outwashes may be observed in the drill-core material considered, directional forms can, however, hardly be traced. Bedding types are not so distinctly marked as we might expect, particularly as concerns uniform beddings. On the other hand, all kinds of stratified structures and laminations in aleurite rocks can better be observed. Hieroglyphs and wrinkles are, too, very difficult to be traced in the drill-core material mainly due to the small surface, on which the researches are commonly conducted. If, however, the tectonics is complicated, and drill cores are not mixed, both hieroglyphs and wrinkles allow to investigate reversed series. On the basis of structural forms and surfaces of strata here analysed. Carboniferous deposits from Ostrzeszów have been referred to shallow-water formations.
