Sporządzanie map litofacjalnych na podstawie metod statystycznych
Abstract
USE OF STATISTICAL METHODS IN DRAWING UP LITHOFACIAL MAPSSummaryThe paper gives a review of the methods used during elaboration of lithofacial maps by American geologists. In addition, the author discusses lithofacial maps of the Visean occurring in the Lublin Carboniferous basin, elaborated on the basis of the analysis of sand - shale ratio, clastic ratio (Lithologic Ratio Maps - W. C. Crumbein, L. L. Sloss, 1951), classifying function (C. R. Pelto, 1954), entropy functions (C. R. Pelto, l954) and entropy function ratio (J. M. Forgotson, 1960). The obtained maps have shown approximate results. The north-eastern part of the basin is characterized by a predominance of the deposits revealing an increased content of limestones. The central portion occurring at the axial line Dorohucza - Korczmin (Figs. 4-9) reveals a prevalence of mudstone-claystone material. The south-western area (Niedrzewica - Komarów) of the region considered is characterized in turn by a considerable increase of sand contents of the Visean deposits. The analysis of distribution of the Visean deposit lithofacies occurring within the basin demonstrates that the elevated Święty Krzyż Mts., or their south-eastern continuation, i.e. the Sanok massif, were the main source of clastic material. According to the present author the room useful maps are those constructed by means of the method based on the sand - shale ratio, clastic ratio and on the entropy function.Downloads
