Abstract
THE TERTIARY FORMATIONS AND THEIR BROWN COAL CONTENTS IN THE WESTERN PART OF THE NORTH-SUDETIC TROUGHWithin the complex of the Tertiary continental deposits filling up the western portion of the North-Sudetic trough the Upper Oligocene, the Miocene and the Pliocene ones have been distinguished. In the present paper the structure and lithoIogical development, as well as the distribution of individual rock series, within the trough area are discussed in detail.Special attention has been paid to the occurrence of brown coal seams, and the correlation elements of these coal seams, which are found in the Parzyce trough have been established. It has been found also that in the area under study the brown coal occurs under various conditions, i.e. it attains a thickness ranging: from 0,15 m up to 12,00 m and may be ,observed at a depth from 19,00 m to 102,70 m. The number of coal seams, changes from one to five. The seam-building coal is of Upper Oligocene age.Downloads
