Problemy sedymentologiczne osadowych rud żelaza
Abstract
SEDIMENTOLOGICAL PBOBLEMS OF SEDIMENTARY IRON ORESSummaryThe sense of the term “sedimentological” is discussed, and an outline of the development of this branch of geological sciences is presented. Particular attention is paid to the works devoted to the genetical problems of sedimentary iron ores. Five main sedimentological problems, that should be taken into account during elaboration of sedimentary iron ores, have been distinguished as follows: 1 – determination of palaeogeographical and palaeotectonical conditions of deposit area, sedimentary basin and probable alimentation area; 2 – determination of ferruginous material source; 3 – determination of way and form to transportation of iron compounds; 4 – determination of physical and chemical conditions of sedimentary environment, and 5 – determination of concentration way of iron compounds passing into a deposits, and definition of diagenetic processes. Discussing the problems mentioned above, the author stresses a necessity of using complex research methods, and points to a “descriptive” character of the investigations, which are too little supported by experimental works. Moreover, a programme of special research works is given and some remarks as to the methods of testing an ore-bearing series are presented. Difficulties in determining the mineral composition of oolitic iron ores have also been taken into consideration. To the end of the paper the author also discusses the graphical method of presentation of the results obtained during examinations.Downloads
