Stratygrafia ordowiku w obniżeniu litewskim (polska część syneklizy perybałtyckiej)
Abstract
STRATIGRAPHY OF THE ORDOVICIAN DEPOSITS OCCURING IN THE LITHUANIAN DEPRESSION (POLISH PART OF THE PERI-BALTIC SYNECLISE)SummaryThe paper presents data concerning the stratigraphy of the Ordovician deposits occurring in the Lithuanian depression. The data have been obtained from the bore holes Bartoszyce IG-1, Kętrzyn IG-1 and Goldap IG-1 (Fig. 1). Within the area here considered the cycle of carbonate sedimentation of the Ordovician embraces such members as Arenigian, Llanvirnian, Llandeilo, Caradoc and Ashgill. Beginning with the Upper Caradoc the deposits differentiate. In the regions of Kętrzyn and Bartoszyce there are found deposits of deep-water origin, for the most part, of clay character. Owing to the lithological development the deposits of the region discussed can be referred to those occuring in the area of Kaliningrad, Sweden and Latvia. On the other hand, in the Gołdap region there occur more shallow-water deposits such as marly limestones with calcareous intercalations. The sedimentary conditions were similar to those found in the adjacent area of Lithuania. The encountered fauna of trilobites, brachiopods, cephalopods and echinoderms allows to subdivide the Ordovician into some members, and to make their correlation with the horizons distinguished in the area of the Baltic Soviet republics (Fig. 2).Downloads
