Abstract
ACHIEVEMENTS OF GEOPHYSICS IN THE SOVIET UNIONSummaryThe author gives a short review of development of geophysical researches in the USSR, particularly taking into account the problems of research methods and of construction of instruments used in geophysical surveys. In the history of these researches 6 periods have been distinguished: – from 1917 to about 1930,– from about 1930 to the World War II (1941),– the period of the World War II (1941–1945),– from 1946 to 1958,– from 1959 to 1965,– from 1965 to the present day.The development of geophysics is due mainly to the requirements of petroleum geology and ore geology. Among others, there are discussed achievements in seismical methods (including marine seismics), in geoelectrical, gravimetrical, magnetical (also aeromagnetical) methods, and in drilling geophysics.Downloads
