Abstract

TECTONIC SITE OF QUARTZ VEINS OF A NW-SE DIRECTION IN THE VICINITY OF BARCINEK, IZERA HIGHLANDSSummaryQuartz veins were found to occur within the area of the Izera Highlands (Lower Silesia) in the vicinity of Barcinek, running in a NW-SE direction. They disclose the following crack systems: longitudinal system – oriented parallelly to the course and dip of veins; transversal system directed perpendicularly to both elongation and plunge of veins and to B1 lineation; another also transversal system showing a steep dip towards the direction of plunge of veins, i.e. towards NW; and diagonal system running obliquely to the elongation of veins. The longitudinal, the transversal – perpendicular  to B1 lineation, and the diagonal systems depend upon the analogically oriented main crack systems that occur in host rocks.Transversal cracks – perpendicular to B1 lineation (II system) were formed as the earliest ones, and now ac cracks. These were followed by the system of diagonal cracks there (III system). The longitudinal system of cracks was absent at that time, or was squeezed due to the compression  directed towards NE-SW. Both the II and the III systems of cracks are of Variscan age.
