Abstract
FORAMINIFERS IN VARVED CLAYS AT STRAWCZYNEK, NEAR KIELCE
Summary
Cretaceous, Palaeocene and Miocene foraminifers have been found to occur in varved clays at Strawczynek, near Kielce (Świętokrzyskie Mountains). They come from the washed-out Cretaceous and Tertiary rocks which have stuck in the continental glacier. The composition of microfauna illustrates that the continental glacier has entered the northern foreland of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains from the east, since the Sarmatian deposits disclosing a fauna assemblage analogous to that from Strawczynek, occur in the region of Zawichost. Here, the Sarmation deposits are developed in detrital facies.
