Abstract

RESULTS OF THE THERMAL EXAMINATIONS MADE IN THE SOUTH-EASTERN PART OF POLISH LOWLANDSummaryThe article deals with the results of the thermal examinations made in 8 bore holes: Mielnik IG and Żebrak IG - located in the Podlasie depression, Radzyń IG - in the western part of the Podlasie-Lublin elevation, Magnuszew IG, Żyrzyn IG, Dorohucza IG, Tyszowce IG,-and Tomasz6w IG - in the Warsaw-Lublin part of the marginal synclinorium. Thermal measurements have been made to examine geothermal gradient. Consequently, these measurements have been carried on under conditions of fairly stabilized thermal regime. The interpretation of the results allows the authors to state that the main values of the thermal gradient range from 1.65°C/100 m to 2.32°C/100 m. The relatively high values of the averaged geothermal gradient in bore holes Mielnik IG (59,4 m/1°C) and Radzyń IG (58,4 m/1°C) may be thought to be typical of the western, marginal part of the East-European platform. In bore hole Żebrak IG, the averaged geothermal gradient amounts to 43.7 m/1°C0. On the other hand, within the Warsaw-Lublin part of the marginal synclinorium, the mean values of the geothermal gradient range from 43.1 to 54.3 m/1°C.
