Abstract

STRATIGRAPHY AND IDENTIFICATION OF THE SEAMS OF THE GROUP 200 IN THE MINE BOLESŁAW ŚMIAŁYSummaryMicroscope examinations have been made on the seams 215, 217, 218/1 and 218/2 of the mine Bolesław Śmiały. The results of the examinations show that the seams belong to a transition zone between Westphalian B and C. As concerns the vertical section of the Carboniferous strata, these seams should be thought to represent younger members than the seam 301, and older than the seam 214 found to occur in the area of Jaworzno, where, most probably, they were eroded. The seams here considered have been identified with the seams C-D, ,,?”, E?, and E of the mine Silesia. Maybe, the occur in a reduced form also in the area of Lędziny. The nomenclature of the seams 215 - 218 in the mine Bolesław Śmiały, seems to be right, however, the older seams No 301 end 302, which occur in the region of Jaworzno, and their equivalents, should bear numbers 219 and 220.
