Abstract

ABSOLUTE POTASSIUM-ARGON AGE OF THE FILIPOWICE TUFF

Two determinations of absolute age have been made by means of K-Ar method on the tuff from Filipowice, near Cracow. The result of the first determination made by the whole rock method is as much as 193 ± 7 mill years. As concerns determination of sample of biotite concentrate it amounts 230 ± 11 mill years. The latter determination, thought to be a right one, proves the Lower Permian age of the tuff. The first determination is supposed to prove the fact of argon leakage from feldspars.
