Abstract
CORRELATION OF STRATIGRAPHICAL PROFILE OF LOESSES OF THE GERMAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC, POLAND AND THE EUROPEAN PART OF THE SOVIET UNIONThe paper presents a stratigraphical correlation of loesses occurring in the forefield area of the last Glaciation in the German Democratic Republic, Poland and in the European part of the Soviet Union. The Quaternary profiles of these areas are particularly important in studies on stratigraphy of the period considered. They allow to correlate stratigraphical loess profiles directly with those of the Pleisitocene glacial deposits. The stratigraphical profile of the loesses occurring in the German Democratic Republic is discussed on the data from paper by K. Ruske and M. Wünsche (1961), K. P. Unger, D. Rau (1961), I. Lieberoth (1962a, 1962b, 1963), G. Haase (1963), as well as on those from the Guide-Book of the III Conference of the Working Sub-commission for Loess Stratigraphy, INQUA (1964), and on authors' own observations. In Fig.1 are presented two profiles (Freyburg and Gleina) which may be referred to the most complete stratigraphical loess profiles in the German Democratic Republic.Downloads
