Abstract

A NEW OCCURRENCE OF THE ALGAE FROM GENUS ACICULARIAIn limestones, marly and·sandy limestones of Astartian sediments, especially in the Lower Astartian sediments in the SE parts of Polish Lowland the Algae from genus Acicularia halve been found. The largest amassment of discus of Acicularia was stated in drill-cores from the bore hole Bystrzyca – 38% of the volume of limestone (4578 pieces in thin section 24 x 24 mm). The maximum diameter is 0,22-0,26 mm in transversal section. The number of spherical cavities after spores in circumference is 7-13 and their diameter amounts to 0,032-0,040 mm.
