Abstract
LITHOLOGIC DEVELOPMENT OF ZECHSTEIN DEPOSITS IN THE WESTERN PART OF THE NIDA TROUGHSummaryThe article deals with the Zechstein Sections examined in bore hoes Pągów IG-l and Milianów IG-1. In the bore hole Pągów a classically developed Werra cyclothem has been ascertained. At Milianów this cyclothem occurs in the calcareous-sulphate facies. In addition, the article presents an untypical development of the Stassfurt cyclothem, and of the younger cyclothems Z3 and Z4, distinguished in the area of the bore holes considered. The material obtained from these bore holes allowed the author to establish the following stratigraphy of the Zechstein formation.1. The boundary of the range of chloride facies, without magnesium and potassium salts, runs to the south-east (Fig. 1) somewhat farther than it has so far been presented in the literature (J. Poborski, 1960, l964; J. Czarnocki, 1951). Such a suggestion is proved by bore hole Pągów.2. The boundary of the range of littoral carbonate-sulphate facies in the central part of the Nida trough, between Pinczów and Nagłowice, runs more to the north than so far accepted (J. Poborski, 1960, 1964). This is proved by the bore holes made at Potok Mały and Jaronowice, where the Zechstein deposits have been encountered.3. Zechstein formations that occur in the area between Włoszczowa and Mielec are developed in the conglomerate-siltstone facies, with fine ingrowths of sulphates, do not make any uninterrupted mantle, but occur in the form of disseminated patches. This is evidenced by a lack of Zechstein deposits in the area, where some drillings have been made in the “Zechstein Zone”.Downloads
