Abstract

LITHOLOGIC DEVELOPMENT OF DEVONIAN FORMATIONS IN THE EASTERN PART OF THE ŚWIĘTOKRZYSKIE MOUNTAINSSummaryThe article deals with a lithologic section of Devonian formations from the eastern part of the Świętokrzyskie Mountain. In this region, the Devonian formations are Lower, Middle and Upper Devonian in age. Based on lithologic and faunistic differences, the authors have distinguished here 14 rock complexes (Fig. 2).Complexes of Lower Devonian age are from 1 to 5, those of Middle Devonian age – from 6 to 11 , and those of Upper Devonian age – from 12 to 14 in current numbers. In addition to the lithologic and stratigraphic description, sedimentation process is also discussed of the Devonian formations from the eastern part of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. Here, five sedimentary cycles have been distinguished: Lower Devonian, Eifelian – Lower Givetian, Upper Givetian, Lower Frasnian, and Upper Frasnian–Famennian. Moreover, the carbonate rocks of Middle and Upper Devonian age have been determined to be very important mineral raw materials for various branches of home industry.
