Wpływ tektoniki wgłębnej na struktury młodo mezozoiczne kenozoiczne okolic Jędrzejowa- Pińczowa
Abstract
INFLUENCE OF DEEP TECTONICS UPON YOUNG MESOZOIC AND CAINOZOIC STRUCTURES IN THE VICINITY OF JĘDRZEJÓW-PIŃCZÓWSummaryThe vicinity of Jędrzejów-Pińczów is part of a tectonic unit, called Nida trough, situated south-west of the foreland of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. The area in study is characterized by an exceptional interrelation between the deep tectonics and young formation tectonics, up to the Quaternary inclusive. Geological materials from drillings and from detailed geological maps, as well as numerous seismic profiles have, among others, demonstrated that block tectonics exists in the Jurassic, Cretaceous and Tertiary formations. The tectonic Nida trough was formed at the Jurassic time. Against this background new transgressions end regressions of the Cretaceous sea developed, ending with some local sedimentary disturbances in the tectonically active areas (calcareous sandstones of detrital Upper Cretaceous). The emerged Cretaceous deposits were affected tectonically according to the directions of the Jurassic dislocation zones (direction of axis about 270°). Due to these processes a Cretaceous swell Jędrzejów–Pinczów has been formed. Later on, tectonic inversion caused a submergence of this area, and a short-lasting ingression of the Tertiary (Lower Tortonian) sea. At that time, a series of the so-called Pińczów limestones and lithothamnium marls developed. The regression of the Tertiary sea, and further tectonic changes led to a reconstruction of both the Cretaceous elevations in the vicinity of Jędrzejów, and the Pińczów swell. Within this swell, a series of the Lower Tortonian deposits was laid down on the Cretaceous formations. The tectonic processes resulted also in the production of block structures in the Tertiary strata, which were mutually displaced (directions about 300°, transversal directions about 30°). At the Quaternary time, apart from a huge glacial sedimentation (South-Polish Glaciation, Mindel), the Sub-Quaternary basement was torn away during the next interglacial time (Mindel-Riss). Consequently, a new Cretaceous-Tertiary morphology developed, i.e. the Cretaceous elevated zones Jęrzejów–Pińczów, and the Cretaceous-Tertiary Pińczów swell reappeared. The dependence of the geomorphological evolution upon the basement structures is illustrated on Figs. 1, 3, and 4, and on photographs (Tables III–V).Downloads
