Abstract

GEOTHERMAL DEGREE VALUES IN POLAND WITHIN THE 200-2500 m DEPTH RANGE

Summary

The present paper gives the values of the geothermal degree within the 200-2500 m depth interval calculated on the basis at ten new temperature measurements carried out in deep bore-holes. Also data from twelve temperature measurements previously published by S. Plewa (1966) and L. Roman (1962) have been utilized in calculating the geothermal degree values in this range (tabs. 1 and 2). On this basis the map of geothermal degree values in Poland within the 200-2500 m depth range has been constructed (fig. 1). Owing to a big depth interval (2300 m) this map gives a close approximation of the picture of the geothermal degree variations in the upper part of the Earth's crust on the territory Poland. The averaging of values within such a big range limited the effect of local thermal properties. An analysis of the map confirms the relationship between the contour lines pattern of the top of the crystalline basement and the geothermal degree isolines.
