Abstract
REMARKS ON FACIAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE CRETACEOUS DEPOSITS IN THE MIDDLE SUDETESThe author discusses the important features of the facial development of main types of the marine Cretaceous deposits occurring in the Middle Sudetes area. The description is given according to the local chronology of the deposits in study (Fig. 2). Particular attention has been paid to the sedimentary conditions, especially as concerns Coniacian deposits. At the Lower Cretaceous time the Middle Sudetes were a continent;· he diversified relief of which was a result of the tectonical movements of the Austrian phase of the Laramide Orogeny. The continent was embraced by the transgression of the Upper Cretaceous sea that covered an area stretching between the Lusatia island in north-west, the East-Sudetic continent in north-east, and the Orlica island (a peninsula of the East-Sudetic continent at the beginning) in south-west.Downloads
