Pozycja stratygraficzna margli terespolskich w wierceniu Dzwola na Roztoczu
Abstract
STRATIGRAPHICAL POSITION OF THE TERESZPOL MARLS IN BORE HOLE DZWOLA, ROZTOCZE AREASummaryMarly deposits, mainly composed of lithothamnium fragments, have been encountered in bore hole Dzwola at a depth of 25–69 m. In the Roztocze area these marls are widespread on the surface in the form of weathered materials. In the vicinity of Tereszpol, Zamość region, the outcrops of these marls are especially rich. For the most part these are mainly loose formations, consisting of lithothamnium detritus and of single lithothamnium balls of various rounding degree, which give to the marls an appearance of conglomerates with pebbles of different sizes. The cementing material of these formations is strongly marly, hence the whole rock mass should be called marl. After the locality Tereszpol, the present author calls these marls the Tereszpol marls. The stratigraphical position of the Tereszpol marls is defined by the overlying Ervilia Bed and the scallops Chlamys scissa (F a v e r) and Ch. scissa wulke (H i l b.) found in them. This macrofauna is characteristic of the Lower Tortonian. The microfauna of these marls is thought by E. Bieńkowa to be of Upper Tortonian age, however, a definitive determination of the age of these formations she leaves till the time when the macropalaeontological documentation will be co-ordinated with the micropalaeontological one with respect to the formations encountered in the Roztocze area.Downloads
