Abstract
THE UPPER JURASSIC CRINOIDEA IN THE EXTRA-CARPATHIAN AREAS OF POLANDSummaryThe purpose of the present article is to pay attention to Crinoidea found to occur abundantly in the Upper Jurassic deposits within the Extra-Carpathian areas of Poland. So far, the Crinoidea have not been worked out in detail. Information on these fauna representatives is generally taken from publications in which authors frequently emphasize their presence only, mainly as single crinoid stems, without giving any information on their genera. The members of stems (trochites) are found in the deposits of the open, littoral or sublittoral sea. They are absent, however, in the deposits of the lagoonal zone, so characteristic of the upper part of the Upper Portlandian. The trochites usually occur as scattered individuals; at places however, they make such enormous accumulations, particularly in limestones, that these deserve a name – crinoidal limestones.Downloads
