REFLEXION SEISMIC SURVEYS IN THE WEST POMERANIA AREA IN 1968–1972

Summary

The article deals with the reflexion seismic surveys made in the Pomerania area in a period from 1968 to 1972. The author discusses the methods of field works carried out during the initial period of the application of magnetic record, and the progress in this method observed till 1972, mainly as concerns the introduction of the method of multiple covering and grouping of holes. Conclusions are also drawn as concerns the considerable amount of experimental works concentrated mainly on the filtering of damaging waves. Moreover, the article presents the results of the research made within the individual geological units of Pomerania, i.e. in the Pomeranian trough, the Szczecin trough, and the Pomeranian swell, emphasizing the occurrence form, on the time graph, of the reflexion horizon related to the bottom of the Zechstein formations, for which a structural time sketch has specially been worked out (Fig. 1). The analysis of the surface position of this horizon has demonstrated that the seismic reconnaissance of the Zechstein formations in the Pomerania area is in sufficient, therefore the article points to the most important areas where reflexion works should be made at first, and suggests some appropriate methods.
